SAP Retail Industry Cloud & Omnichannel

Blurring the boundaries between channels

A deep understanding of customer behaviour in retail enables the creation of tailored recommendations, personalised advertising and efficient processes. Transparency across all interactions between customers and the retail company is crucial—both for the company and for the customer themselves.

Opportunities for your company

Grow sustainably with SAP Retail Industry Cloud & Omnichannel SAP Retail Industry Cloud enables retail companies to build cross-channel processes that are flexible, scalable and future-proof. It complements the classic monolithic approach (e.g. SAP CAR in the on-premise or private cloud edition) with modern, cloud-based services that can be implemented more quickly and integrated more easily into modern system landscapes. Your advantages:

  • Real-time inventory and sales transparency across all channels
  • Centrally controlled pricing and promotion management
  • Customer experience and loyalty via an integrated database
  • Scalable order management for branches, web shops, marketplaces and future channels
  • SaaS services that can be operated without infrastructure costs
  • Flexible combinable cloud services instead of large monolithic upgrades

SAP CAR remains important as a proven on-premise/private cloud core system: It will remain in SAP's maintenance portfolio until at least 2040 and offers a central, robust database.

At the same time, the SAP Retail Industry Cloud enables complementary cloud-native solutions that will expand or replace certain CAR functions in the future – particularly in the areas of inventory, pricing and order management.

The result is a platform that meets today's requirements and points the way to the future in terms of technology.

Approach

Our proven transformation model for retail & omnichannel We support retail companies in their step-by-step transformation to an SAP-based omnichannel platform – from a monolithic on-premise approach (e.g. CAR) to a dynamic, modular Retail Industry Cloud architecture. We examine:

    02.01

Analysis of current processes and system landscape

We examine existing retail, ERP and e-commerce systems and analyse the role of SAP CAR in the current setup, including its function as a central data repository as well as its use in promotion management, UDF and related capabilities. In addition, we assess cloud potential in the areas of inventory, order management, pricing and customer data, while also reviewing cross-channel touchpoints and end-to-end customer journeys.

The result is a clear overview of which components will remain in place, which will be added and where Industry Cloud services can be leveraged most effectively. All of this is structured within a transparent IT governance and roadmap strategy.

    02.02

SAP target architecture: interaction between CAR and Industry Cloud

We develop a tailor-made target vision that protects existing investments while unlocking cloud potential.

SAP CAR (Customer Activity Repository) is operated on-premise or in a private cloud and will be maintained and supported by SAP until at least 2040. It serves as a central platform for data consolidation, bringing together POS data, promotions, inventory information and the Unified Demand Forecast (UDF). CAR therefore remains a key anchor point, especially for retailers who have already invested in and continue to rely on stable, monolithic platforms.

    02.03

    SAP Order Management Services

SAP Order Management Services (OMF – Order Management Foundation + OMSA – SAP Order Management for sourcing and availability) – SaaS service for intelligent routing, order processing and fulfilment optimisation

    02.04

SAP OSTA – Omnichannel Sales Transfer & Audit

SAP OSTA (Omnichannel Sales Transfer & Audit) is a standalone component of the SAP Retail Industry Cloud. It consolidates POS and webshop sales and covers billing, auditing, tax logic and regulatory requirements. In the long term, it is designed to replace the classic functionality of POS-DM and CAR RTI.

RealCore USP: RealCore is one of the first implementation partners in Germany, Austria and Switzerland for SAP OSTA and brings dedicated expertise in the architecture, introduction and stabilisation of this solution.

    02.05

SAP OPPS – Omnichannel Promotion Pricing Service

SAP OPPS (Omnichannel Promotion Pricing Service) is a SaaS service that enables consistent, cross-channel price calculation, ensuring that customers always receive the correct price—regardless of whether they shop in-store, online or via mail order.

RealCore USP: We also bring proven expertise in mapping loyalty cards. This is demonstrated by the successful integration of Germany’s largest bonus programme using OPPS at the POS. The mechanisms implemented in this example are transferable and can be applied to any retailer’s individual approach to purchase incentives. Additional Industry Cloud Services include the SAP Customer Data Platform (CDP) as well as complementary CX, loyalty and analytics solutions. Depending on the retailer’s strategy, these services meaningfully complement SAP CAR or selectively replace individual components of the existing landscape.
